The dock is the defining feature. When the vacuum is returned, collected material is pulled into a larger sealed container that can hold many routine cleaning sessions before it needs attention. That is useful for allergy-conscious households and anyone who dislikes emptying a small cordless bin after every use. It also introduces a permanent appliance into the room: the base needs a power socket, clear floor space and access for lifting out its container and filters.
