It launched as the successor to the older ghd Air and remains widely sold, but the 2026 ghd Speed introduced a much newer high-velocity platform with dual-airflow heat management, more speed control and a cooler outer barrel. Helios therefore makes most sense when its price is materially below the Speed, not when both are close to full retail price.
Helios uses a conventional professional form with a long barrel, a brushless motor and ghd's Aeroprecis shaping system, which combines an internal aerodynamic path with a contoured concentrator. Published specifications commonly quote 2,200W and airflow approaching 120km/h. Those figures indicate a forceful dryer but do not predict every person's drying time.
