Braun Series 9 Pro+ 9577cc review
Current position below Braun Nevo
The Braun Series 9 Pro+ 9577cc remains a current and highly capable Series 9 package, but it is no longer the newest or most luxurious Braun shaver overall. Braun launched the separate Nevo platform in July 2026 with a new metal body, AeroTouch shaving head and redesigned care system. Nevo is not called a Series 10 and does not make the Series 9 Pro+ obsolete; it simply means the 9577cc should be judged as Braun's established premium foil system at a potentially much lower street price rather than as the unquestioned technology flagship.
The 9577cc suffix matters because Series 9 Pro+ bundles vary. This package is associated with the premium shaver, SmartCare cleaning and charging centre and a PowerCase that can extend cordless use away from a socket. Retailers sometimes shorten the name to Series 9 Pro+ or substitute a nearby 95xx or 96xx bundle, so buyers should check the complete code, included stand, case and cleaning cartridge. The core shaver may be similar across packages while the accessory value differs by hundreds of pounds at list price.
Foil performance, comfort and beard length
Braun's broad flexible foil head combines multiple cutting elements intended to capture short hair, flat-lying strands and slightly longer stubble in fewer strokes. The ProLift and Direct & Cut elements work alongside the foils and protective SkinGuard, while beard-density sensing adjusts power automatically. In practice, the main advantage of the Series 9 design is efficient, close shaving on daily to several-day growth without the circular technique required by a rotary model. The head is large, however, and detailed work directly beneath the nose can require the integrated precision trimmer or a locked head position.
A foil shaver should be moved mostly against the direction of growth using light pressure and short overlapping strokes. Repeatedly scrubbing one area can create heat and irritation even when the product is marketed for skin comfort. Longer beards should be reduced first rather than forced through the foil, and the pop-up trimmer is for edging and pre-trimming rather than maintaining a long beard evenly. Wet use with foam may improve glide for some users but can make it harder to see missed areas and adds cleaning time.
PowerCase, SmartCare and recurring costs
The shaver itself is rated for about 60 minutes of cordless use, while the PowerCase adds extra charging capacity for travel. That is useful for frequent travellers, but the case is heavier and bulkier than a passive pouch and still relies on Braun's charging system rather than a direct USB-C port on the shaver. The appliance is designed for cordless shaving; it should not be assumed that connecting the mains lead enables operation while charging, especially given wet-use safety interlocks.
The SmartCare centre cleans, lubricates, dries and charges using replaceable alcohol-based cartridges. It is convenient, particularly for a main daily shaver, but the cartridges are an ongoing cost and generate packaging waste. Manual rinsing remains possible, yet the foil cassette should be allowed to dry fully before the cap or case is fitted. Braun recommends replacing the cutting cassette periodically, with actual timing affected by beard density and cleaning. Buyers should confirm the correct Series 9 Pro+ cassette code and current price before purchase because a genuine replacement head is a significant part of long-term ownership.
Who should buy it and hygiene safeguards
The 9577cc is best for someone who wants a very close foil shave, uses the shaver often and will genuinely benefit from the PowerCase and automated cleaning station. It can be better value than Braun Nevo when discounted, because the Series 9 Pro+ remains fast, comfortable and well supported. It is less compelling for occasional users who could buy a simpler Series 9 bundle, for beard wearers needing a dedicated trimmer, or for buyers unwilling to fund cartridges and replacement cassettes.
Good technique matters more than maximum pressure. Keep the foil free of dents, replace damaged cutters immediately and never tap the delicate foil against a hard sink. Do not share the head without proper disinfection, and discontinue use over broken or infected skin. Persistent folliculitis, severe razor bumps or changing lesions need medical assessment rather than more aggressive shaving. MainBuyer has not performed hands-on closeness, irritation, battery, cartridge or durability testing; this review synthesises Braun documentation, independent reviews and the July 2026 launch of Nevo.
